Overview
Green Lake is a great space but the wayfinding, courtesy rules, and maps feel outdated and neglected. There is no public or any way to really engage with the space other than sitting on the grass.

People use Green Lake Park for many different activities involving exercise, leisure and recreational activities. Navigating the space would be a challenge for a person that has never been there. Further challenges would be for anyone who spoke a different language. The signage is infrequent and easy to overlook. It’s hard to find a map to orient yourself. The use of the classic “city street sign” color palette is very easy to overlook and the desaturated colors do nothing for grabbing attention. Most people don’t seem to know the rules of the jogging path. The signage is not very clear or frequent. There is an opportunity to bring some life and engagement to the park with some public art and place-making.

My goal with the signage is to make it easier for people to notice, see and understand the information that will help them enjoy the space.
